About Us
You’re not just buying a mold inspection – you’re buying years of experience.

Jason Colby
As co-founder and lead inspector at The Great Indoors, I combine a lifelong love of science with hands-on construction experience to bring clients the most thorough inspections possible. I hold a Master of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences and Biotechnology, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, and grew up learning remodeling and building alongside my father. This unique blend of science and construction knowledge gives me the ability to see both the hidden biological factors and the structural issues that contribute to mold growth.
I am passionate about ongoing learning—constantly researching the latest in mold science, technology, and inspection methods—and bringing that knowledge back to the company to continue to raise our standards of service. Working alongside my wife, who leads our sample analysis and educational outreach, we provide clients with a complete picture: from identifying mold at its source to understanding how it impacts health and home. On every inspection, my goal is not only to uncover what others might miss but also to educate and empower clients with clear information and practical solutions.
At The Great Indoors, mold inspection is more than science – it’s our mission to empower families with the knowledge and tools to protect both their health and their home.

Heather Colby
As a co-founder of The Great InDoors, I bring a unique blend of science, health, and hands-on experience to every inspection. I hold a National Board Certification as a Health and Wellness Coach, am a Certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, and have over a decade of experience in functional nutrition—including work in clinical settings with both adults and children. My background includes supporting clients with complex health challenges such as mold toxicity, autoimmune disorders, Lyme disease, and more.
In addition to my health training, I have over 12 years of experience as a certified mold remediation expert and am a trained and certified mold sample analyst. At The Great Indoors, my role centers on analyzing samples and providing clear, actionable education to empower families. Helping to create this company was driven by my belief that the most effective path to healing begins with addressing both the home and the human body—ensuring safe environments that support long-term health and well-being.
